Chanel Metiers d'Art Show in Rome

Yesterday Rome's Cinecitta cinema complex was hosting the Chanel's 12th Métiers d'Art show.
On the fringe of couture and ready to wear calendars, Chanel has paid homage every year since 2003 to the label's network of artisan houses as Lesage, Desrues, Lemarié, Massaro, Michel ... The eleven ateliers, all bought by Chanel since 1985 are each masters in a particuliar field of fashion, from embroidery to lacemaking.

Chanel never really does "retro". In the show, it skipped along to 20's with languid slip dresses (the big trend of the season also seen at Saint Laurent fashion show), and long chiffon tea dresses reminiscent of the 30's. Back also to the 80's and 90's with trench by referencing to Chanel looks or presenting an oversized knit, tied at the waist.
Chanel recreates entire street scene : real restaurants, cafes, bars and more.

Karl Lagerfeld was also presenting his "Once and Forever" short film the the first time, starring Kristen Stewart as Coco Chanel, Jérémie Elkaïm as the producer, and Géraldine Chaplin, fabulous as old Coco Chanel.

Find below a selection of the iconic look from this fabulous Métiers d'Art Show.
